Prestige Boston Terriers – Health Policy
At Prestige Boston Terriers, the health and well-being of our dogs and puppies is our absolute priority. We are committed to ethical breeding practices, comprehensive veterinary care, and full transparency with our adoptive families.
Pre-Breeding Health Testing
All breeding dogs undergo extensive health screenings before being considered for our program. This includes:
OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) Hip & Patella Evaluations – to screen for hip dysplasia and luxating patellas.
Genetic Testing – for juvenile hereditary cataracts, progressive retinal atrophy, and other breed-specific conditions.
Cardiac Evaluation – to check for heart abnormalities common in the breed.
Annual Veterinary Exams – to ensure overall health and fitness for breeding.
Puppy Health Guarantee
Every puppy adopted from Prestige Boston Terriers comes with a 2-Year Genetic Health Guarantee. This guarantee covers hereditary and congenital conditions that may affect the puppy’s quality of life.
What the guarantee includes:
Full refund or replacement puppy if a severe genetic condition is diagnosed within 2 years of birth.
Coverage for life-threatening hereditary conditions diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian.
What the guarantee does not cover:
Minor ailments such as colds, parasites, or injuries.
Conditions caused by neglect, poor nutrition, or accidents after adoption.
Puppy Health Protocol
Before going to their new homes, every puppy receives:
Full Veterinary Examination – within 3 days of adoption.
First Round of Vaccinations – including DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus).
Deworming Protocol – at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age.
Microchipping – with lifetime registration.
Health Certificate – provided by our licensed veterinarian.
Ongoing Health Support
We believe in supporting our puppies for life. As part of our commitment:
Lifetime Breeder Support – we are always available to answer health, nutrition, and behavior questions.
Veterinary Reference – we work with trusted veterinarians and can provide recommendations.
Health Records – all medical records are provided at the time of adoption and are updated as needed.
Responsible Breeding Practices
We limit the number of litters per dam to ensure her health and well-being. All dams receive proper rest between litters and are retired early to enjoy a happy, healthy life as a beloved pet.
Adoption Agreement
All adoptions are accompanied by a formal contract that outlines the health guarantee, spay/neuter requirements (if applicable), and the responsibilities of both the breeder and the adopter to ensure the puppy’s lifelong well-being.
